Anytime is the right time to visit the Pocono Mountains but we’re especially fond of the spring season. It’s the perfect weather to be outside and explore. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to enjoy some of the most beloved local attractions without the crowds.

Here are some of our can’t miss activities.

ADVENTURE

  1. Whitewater Rafting | Starting in April, adventurers ages 8 and older can experience Class II and Class III whitewater rafting on the Lehigh River. Got a tot? There are family experiences for kids ages 4 and older. Wetsuits are available to rent which we recommend earlier in the season or on chillier days.
  2. Mountain Creek Riding Stable | Trail rides, family rides and even wagon rides are offered at this stable.
  3. Stock Car Racing | Thrill seekers need to look for further than Pocono Raceway for a memorable experience. Ride along or drive on the famous track. ProKart rentals are also available for those who prefer that exhilarating way to race.
  4. ATVs | Get muddy at this ATV adventure in Long Pond. Alvin’s Off-Road Adventure offers both rentals, tours and trails.

SIGHTSEEING

  1. Lehigh Gorge Scenic Train | All aboard this historic railway out of the quaint town of Jim Thorpe. Round-trip rides are 70 minutes and can be purchased online.
  2. Historic Trolley Tours | The beautiful sights of the Delaware Valley Water Gap are on display on this tour in a historic trolley. You’ll check out the Castle Inn, Dear Head Inn and a cold air cave.
  3. Historic Tram Tours and Candlemaking | Departing out of Shawnee, this tour explores the history of the town and its charming sights and includes a candlemaking workshop. Stargazing tours are also offered through this program.

FOOD AND DRINK

  1. Wallenpaupack Brewery + Pinball Arcade | This beloved brewery has a Pop-Up Pinball arcade through April 2024. Bring your quarters and light up the field. Then, come May, you won’t want to miss the German Spring Festival.
  2. Barley Creek | If you like your beers with a side of lawn sports, this is the place for you. With more than 60 beers on tap, corn hole, pickleball, foosball, bocce ball and even a wiffleball field, Barley Creek offers hours of fun for the whole family.
  3. Taste of the Poconos Foodie Tour | Check out the best local eateries on this once-weekly tour for ages 13 and up.
